Your portrait is typically ready in around 60 seconds. You'll see an animated progress screen while our AI artist gets to work — and once it's done, your finished portrait fills the screen automatically. No refreshing, no waiting around — it just appears.
What designs are available? How many are there?+
We have hundreds of designs in our catalogue, spanning a huge range of themes and characters — Star Wars, Star Trek, Renaissance masters, superheroes, historical figures, and plenty more. We're also constantly adding new designs, so the catalogue is always growing.
Can I request a custom design that isn't in the catalogue?+
At this stage we don't offer custom designs outside of our catalogue. The good news is we have hundreds of designs to choose from, and we're always adding new ones.

Absolutely — that's the whole fun of it. You browse our full catalogue and pick whichever design catches your eye before you do anything else. Once you've chosen your design, you upload your pet's photo and we'll take care of the rest. The choice is entirely yours.
Will my portrait look exactly like the example shown for that design?+
The example portrait shown for each design gives you a great idea of the style, composition, and finished look — but your portrait will be unique to your pet. Instead of the pet shown in the example, you'll see your own pet's face, features, and personality in the design. Every portrait is one of a kind. Why not try it for yourself — it only takes around 60 seconds!
Can I see a preview before I pay?+
Yes — absolutely. Your finished portrait is displayed in full on screen the moment it's ready, before you've spent a single cent. You can take as long as you like to look it over, and if you're not happy with it you can create another portrait before deciding to purchase. You only pay when you're completely happy with what you see.
What does the watermark on my preview mean?+
The watermark — our logo displayed over your preview image — is there to protect the artwork until you've completed your purchase. Once you place your order, the watermark is completely removed, and what you receive — whether a print, a mug, a blanket, or a digital download — is a clean, watermark-free portrait, ready to display and enjoy.
Can I create more than one portrait?+
Yes! You can create up to three portraits completely free, no sign-up required. If you'd like to create more, simply enter your email address to unlock two additional free portraits — giving you up to five in total per day. Can I try a different design after seeing my first result?+
Of course! Once your portrait is ready, you have two options right there on the result screen. You can try again with a different photo using the same design, or you can browse our catalogue and pick a completely different design to try instead. If you've entered your email address, all your portraits are saved in your personal gallery so nothing is lost.
I don't like how my portrait turned out — can I try again?+
Absolutely — that's exactly what the free portraits are for. If you're not happy with your result, you can create another portrait before you commit to purchasing anything. You have up to five attempts per day, so there's plenty of opportunity to try a different photo or a different design until you find a result you love. You only ever pay when you're completely happy with what you see.
How many free portraits can I create before I need to pay?+
You can create up to three portraits completely free, with no sign-up or payment details required. If you'd like to create more, simply enter your email address to unlock two additional free portraits — giving you up to five per day in total. Your allowance refreshes every 24 hours. What kind of photo works best?+
A photo taken at eye level with your pet works beautifully, as it gives us the most natural and flattering view of their face. Try to capture a clear, well-lit image that shows their facial expression and personality. The one thing to avoid is very blurry or out-of-focus photos, as these can affect the quality of the final result.
Does my pet need to be looking directly at the camera?+
Not necessarily — but it does make a difference. We work from whatever is visible in your photo, and will generally retain your pet's natural head angle and expression rather than changing it. For the best result, a photo where your pet is facing roughly toward the camera and their face is clearly visible tends to work best.
Can I use a photo taken on my phone?+
Absolutely — most of our portraits are created from phone photos, and modern smartphones take more than good enough photos for a brilliant result. As long as the image is clear, reasonably well-lit, and your pet's face is visible, your phone camera is perfect for the job.
What if I only have an old or low-resolution photo?+
Don't worry — we are surprisingly good at working with older or lower quality photos. Rather than simply copying what's in your photo, we recreate your pet's face to match the quality and style of the surrounding design, meaning the finished portrait often looks far better than you might expect from the original photo.
Can I use a group photo where my pet is with other pets or people?+
It's possible, but we'd recommend using a solo photo of your pet wherever you can. If your pet is clearly the main subject — front and centre with their face dominating the frame — we'll generally pick them out without any trouble. However, if there are multiple faces of similar size and prominence in the photo, there's a risk the wrong subject gets chosen. A solo photo is always the safest bet.
My pet is always moving — do I need a perfectly still photo?+
A perfectly still photo is ideal, but we know that's easier said than done with most pets! The most important thing is that your pet's face is reasonably clear and in focus. We recreate your pet exactly as they appear in your photo — so if their ears are flopping in the wind mid-run, they'll appear that way in the portrait too. Try capturing them at a moment of calm — mid-yawn, just waking up, or focused on a treat just out of frame.

We accept JPG, PNG, and HEIC file formats — which covers photos taken on virtually any smartphone or digital camera. The maximum file size is 20MB, which is more than enough for even the highest quality phone photos.

Absolutely — and this is something we're genuinely proud of. We preserve your pet's unique features rather than smoothing them out or correcting them. What happens to my photo after the portrait is generated?+
Your pet's photo is used solely to create your portrait and is automatically deleted from our servers the moment the generation is complete. We don't store it, share it, sell it, or use it for any other purpose. The only image we retain is the generated portrait itself, saved in your gallery for up to 60 days.

You have 24 hours from the time of purchase to request a cancellation. Contact us as quickly as possible at help@lordofthepets.com with your order number. After 24 hours we're unable to cancel orders as production will have already begun.
How long does it take to produce and dispatch my order?+
Once your order is placed, our production partners typically fulfil and dispatch it within 3 to 6 business days. This does not include delivery transit time. You'll receive a shipping notification email with your tracking number as soon as your order is on its way. During busy periods such as Christmas, allow extra time.

It's worth noting that the watermark visible on your preview is removed before printing — your final product will always be clean and watermark-free.
What is your refund policy?+
Because every portrait is uniquely created for you, we do not offer refunds for change of mind. Before purchasing, you are shown a full preview of your portrait and asked to confirm you are happy with the result. However, if your order arrives damaged, with a print defect, or if you've received the wrong item, we will reprint and reship your order at no cost to you.
Can I request changes to my portrait after ordering?+
Unfortunately not — once an order is placed, the portrait is final. Because we use AI to seamlessly incorporate your pet into the design, the process is fully automated and there is no way to manually adjust the result after the fact. If you're not happy before buying, you can create another portrait — you have up to five attempts per day.

How long are my portraits saved for?+
Your portraits are saved in your personal gallery for 60 days from the date they were created. If you haven't made a purchase within that period, your portraits will be automatically removed — but you're always welcome to come back and create new ones.
What happens when my portraits are about to expire?+
We'll send you a reminder email 10 days before your portraits are due to expire. Each portrait has its own individual expiry date based on when it was created. The reminder email will include thumbnails of your portraits and a direct link back to your gallery.
Can I re-generate a portrait I've already created?+
You can't regenerate an existing portrait — once created it's saved exactly as it is. However you can always create a new portrait using the same design and photo, which will produce a fresh result. Your original portrait remains in your gallery for 60 days so you can compare the two and choose your favourite.

The most common reasons are: your photo file is too large (maximum 20MB), your file format isn't supported (we accept JPG, PNG, and HEIC only), or you've reached your daily portrait allowance. Guests can create up to three free portraits per day, and customers who have entered their email address can create up to five. Your allowance resets every 24 hours.
